Why pray for believers during Ramadan?
During the month of Ramadan, as Muslims fast and pray, the Christian churches in the MENA region also need your prayers. There are different types of persecution, threats, and hardship that they face especially in this time of Ramadan.
Pray that God would protect our brothers and sisters, not just physically but also on an emotional/ spiritual level. We pray against attacks on their faith and the church. We ask that God would cover them as they ‘put on the full armor of God,’ so that they will be able to stand firm:
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” – Ephesians 6:11-18
Why pray for Muslims during Ramadan?
- The Islamic holy month of Ramadan is a time when Muslims are more sensitive to spiritual matters. It’s a time of spiritual reflection and seeking.It’s a wonderful time for Christians to pray for their Muslim neighbors to seek and find the living God.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” – Mathew 7:7
Dear Lord, we pray for our Muslim neighbors — both near and far. We ask that You show Yourself to them in profound and intimate ways. As they abstain from food and drink, may they taste and see that You are good. We pray that you would satisfy their hunger for God as you reveal Yourself to them. Amen.
- Pray for God to pour out His Spirit upon Muslim people during the month of Ramadan.
“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” – Acts 2:17
Dear God, You love Muslim people. You’ve created mankind in Your very image. Lord, we pray for a fresh outpouring of Your Spirit upon the Muslim world. Lord, that in these very days, You would visit Muslim people in dreams and visions and every way You desire. Thank you, Lord, that You are attentive to their need for a Savior. Call them to Yourself and show them who You are. Amen.
- Pray for Muslims who are opposed to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Dear God, we pray for Muslims who are vehemently opposed to the truth of Your word. Lord, those who are devoted and passionate, yet desperately misguided. We pray You would touch their hearts and change their lives. Lord, turn their zeal and dedication towards You. The living God. May they seek and find You — even now. Amen.
