The resurrection of Jesus Christ is an amazing event.
Unfortunately, when we talk about the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we either slip into telling it like a cute little story, The Jesus Fairy Tale. Or we turn it into a dry theological explanation mired in the mud of atonement theories. Either way, we tend to miss the reality of the resurrection for the Believer.
The Bible does not present the Gospel as simply something Jesus did for you; it’s presented as something the believer does with Christ. We were crucified with Him, buried with Him, and raised up with Him to new life (Romans 6:5-11). By faith we are united with the Lord Jesus Christ. We are members of His body. Therefore, whatever happened to His body, happened to the believer. If you believe in Jesus, you have already died to your sin and are living a new life with Christ!
Already being dead to sin, dead to this world (Galatians 6:14), dead to this life, allows you to overcome fear and worry, depart from sin, and put off the trappings of materialism. Being alive in Christ, already living as citizens of heaven (Philippians 3:20), allows us to prove what God’s will is, endure persecution, and use our resources to love others.
The crucifixion and resurrection of Christ aren’t just biographical highlights from the life of Jesus, nor is it merely an academic, doctrinal fact to be dissected and analyzed. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16)! It is the entire basis for being born again and having a new victorious life over the world and sin.
See the depth of the beauty of the Gospel. Don’t miss out on what it has actually accomplished for you.
