Learn about our involvement in the church
in the Middle East and North Africa.
Ananias House exists to support the growing body of Christ in the Middle East and North Africa with dynamic ministries to develop churches, train leaders, and provide life-enriching services to local communities of believers.
Ananias House seeks to support local communities of believers in the greater Middle East, and North Africa who have been devastated by war and persecution, encouraging and equipping them to fulfill the Great Commission.
What We Do
“But the Lord said to Ananias, ‘Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.’” Acts 9:15-16
Ananias House was started after its founder, Brother John, witnessed first hand both the devastating impact the civil war in Syria had on his homeland and the miraculous power of God in the lives of His children caught in the crossfire. Churches in Syria were left with few resources to care for the enormous number of people flooding their doors seeking refuge and truth.
Syria has been a sending ground for the Church since New Testament times, and by the grace of God the Syrian Church has survived much over the past two millennia. Ananias House seeks to preserve this heritage, and, in the face of darkness and despair, proclaim the light and hope of Jesus Christ to believers and peoples of other faiths alike through meeting practical and tangible needs, knowing that it is often in the darkest times that the power of God is most evident.
As many Christians in the West wonder what they can do to stand with the persecuted Church, Ananias House provides an avenue through which they can engage in the work the Lord is doing in Syria, the greater Middle East, and North Africa through prayer, advocacy, and financial support, among other endeavors. Ananias House desires for God to be glorified in this region and works directly with local churches and Christian leaders to help with humanitarian needs, biblical training for pastors, and various other projects, such as:
Church building and rebuilding
Emergency Relief Fund, supporting specific urgent needs
Strategic partnerships and mentoring
About Brother John
Brother John grew up in Syria hearing the daily calls to prayer shouted out from minarets all across the country of 23 million people, including refugees. Being raised in a Christian home, Brother John was burdened from an early age for the people of his country to know the true Lord in Heaven.
In spite of the horrific atrocities of the war, he has witnessed God work in miraculous ways to bring many Arab people to a true saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
His calling and goal is to train and equip indigenous followers of Christ who understand their own culture, speak the language, live among their people and see the things that those of us in the West cannot see.
With this call on his life, God has been preparing Brother John and his wife for years, both in Damascus and in Houston, to oversee and lead a Bible school to train and equip believers to be used for His Kingdom in the very heart of the Arab World.
